Geneva, an incarcerated writer, artist, and activist, remembersthe first time attempting to create visual art was in 2016, duringbaorn Poetic Justice program at Dr. Eddie Warrior Correctional Center. Since then, she has refined an artistic process that involves conceiving an idea and finding a way to make the it tangible.
Geneva employs mixed media and collage techniques, utilizing typing paper, found objects, paints, ribbons, strings, and any other materials she can procure. Many of her creations directly reflect her incarceration experiences. Through her art, she aspires to create liminal spaces that provide an opportunity for the truth she has experienced to engage with the public.
In addition to her visual art, Geneva has authored and published her memoir "Disappearing in Glimpses" (mongrel Empire Press, 2020). She also received the 2025 Writing Freedom Fellowship. Furthermore, she serves as an inside volunteer advisory board member for Poetic Justice, a nonprofit organization that helps incarcerated women find their voices, rediscover hope and empowers them to change through writing in community and art.
