Joshua Hinton

Pond Creek, OK

ree

Joshua, a self-taught artist, began painting seven years ago after following Bob Ross’s instructions in Joy of Painting. He found great joy in the activity, continued painting and developed his unique style. Joshua feels a sense of peace and relaxation when creating, becoming fully absorbed in the process and losing track of time and feeling refreshed after applying the final brush strokes.

Currently, Joshua creates both oil and acrylic paintings on canvas. He occasionally selects subject matter to express beauty, while other times chooses subjects to evoke laughter. He particularly enjoys creating paintings that compel viewers to pause and scrutinize them closely.

Joshua’s creative process may involve either sketching beforehand or not. While he often has a concept in mind, he has recently discovered that embracing spontaneity and allowing “happy accidents” to occur is more beneficial. His motivation stems from a desire for continuous improvement, critical analysis of his paintings, identifying areas for enhancement, and applying those insights to future works. His ultimate goal is to inspire viewers to establish a profound connection with his work.

He holds a degree in marketing and mass communication, which he applies to his job in marketing. Before the 2025-26 Oklahoma Visionaries Biennial Exhibit, Joshua showcased his work at Alva’s 2024 Art Night.
