Pleated Accordian Flag Book Workshop

Create a hardcover book that reveals multiple small pages attached within that resemble flags. The clever construction of this book allows pages to pop open in a surprising way. Participants will begin the day by utilizing a variety of intriguing techniques to enhance and decorate their cover papers. These unique papers will then be used to create your own hardcover book.

Pre-registration is required, and enrollment is limited. In addition to a registration fee, a nominal kit-fee is required to provide for all specialty materials (paid to instructor). Upon registration, a supply list will be provided of easier-to-find items for the participant to bring. No prior experience required.

Please note: if you do NOT have any of these items, I have extras to share. If you have it, and

you are able to travel with it, bring it.

YOU BRING:

• Apron or paint clothes

• Bonefolder (bone or Teflon)--5” or longer

• Clay "needle" tool OR Bookbinding Awl

• Metal Cork-back ruler (18" or 24")

• X-acto knife with extra #11 blades OR Snap-off cutting knife

• Micron Pens (01and/or 05)

• Scissors (small for trimming)

• Glue stick (UHU brand, if available)

• Sharpened pencil(s) OR mechanical pencil (BIC)

• Cutting mat OR mat board scraps to cut on

• Old terrycloth washcloth or dishcloth (to wet for sticky fingers)

• Waxed paper (or leftover amount of existing roll)

• Two (2) small plastic grocery bags (for trash clippings)

• Plastic dropcloth OR shower curtain (cheap from Dollar Tree)

• Notebook & pencil for note-taking

• Drink and sack lunch

***OPTIONAL*** (NOT required, but bring if you wish)

• 3M Sandpaper sponge (or similar brand)

• Beads, buttons, or 3D decorative elements to add to books

• C-ThruTM ruler (18” or 24”)--good for centering

• VERITHIN colored pencils

• 2 heavy books (used for book press)

• Assortment of specialty art papers for pages & covers

• Cover boards

• Adhesives & brushes

• Decorative items (beads, feathers, etc.)

• Several handouts
